Programs and Veteran Assistance Organization

American Legion Baseball

With an alumni base that includes more than half of current Major League Baseball players, American Legion Baseball is one of the most prominent and tradition-rich amateur athletic leagues in existence.

The program is always growing, and participation is easy.

About 4,000 teams compete each year, so there’s ample opportunity for new players to join, and for coaches who want to start a team. The league also employs a large number of umpires and other volunteers.

Currently Twin Falls has two teams, one team associated with Twin Falls High School and the other team associated with Canyon Ridge High School.

American Legion Riders

American Legion Riders chapters are well known for their charitable work, which has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for local children’s hospitals, schools, veterans homes, severely wounded servicemembers and scholarships. Since 2006, Riders nationwide have participated in the Legion Legacy Run, to annually raise money for the Legacy Scholarship Fund, established to provide scholarships to children of U.S. military personnel killed since Sept. 11, 2001.

  • Members must hold membership in and be in good standing with The American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary or Sons of The American Legion.
  • Members must be legally registered motorcycle owners or be the legally registered owner’s spouse within the state of registration.

Boy's State

American Legion Boys State is among the most respected educational programs of government instruction for high school students. Each participant becomes a part of the operation of his local, county and state government.
High school juniors are selected by local American Legion Posts to attend the program. In most cases, expenses associated with attending this program are paid by a sponsoring American Legion Post, a local business or another community-based organization.
At American Legion Boys State, participants are exposed to the rights and privileges, the duties and the responsibilities of a franchised citizen. The training is objective and practical with city, county and state governments operated by the students elected to the various offices. Activities include legislative sessions, court proceedings, law enforcement presentations, assemblies, bands, chorus and recreational programs.

Frank Dalton Food Convoy

The Frank Dalton Food Convoy is an event where local businesses donate either food stuff or monetary donations to assist both the Boise State Veteran’s Home or the Pocatello Veteran’s Home to stretch their food budgets. Food items include Chobani yogurts, sugar from Amalgamated Sugar, fish fillets from Clear Lake Fish Farm, protein bars from Clifbar, hams from Independent Meats/Falls Brand to name a few. Monetary donations have come from local Edward Jones associates, Idaho Central Credit Union, D L Evans bank branches.
